When Whitt’s Barbecue opened in the 1970’s, drive-thru windows were not nearly as common as they are today. Many were skeptical at the time whether a drive-thru only concept could survive in Nashville. As it turned out, this simple concept may have actually helped to insure the success and survival of Whitt’s. Most importantly, it allows us to keep our overhead well below that of our competitors, and we are able and willing to pass this savings along to our customers. We also had no idea in the 70’s how mobile and rushed the American family would become. It is easy to eat Whitt’s on the go, or to grab a family pack to take home for a quick, easy meal.
